Dear all,
Peer Support Training.
At Cycle Against Suicide, we believe that every conversation has the potential to change or even save a life. Our evidence-based ‘Peer Support Training’ equips individuals with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to recognise when someone may be struggling with their mental health or experiencing thoughts of suicide, and to respond safely, compassionately, and effectively.
Delivered as a free, 2-hour, self-directed online course, the training is flexible and accessible, allowing participants to learn at a time and pace that suits them.
Participants will learn how to recognise the signs of emotional distress, have supportive and non-judgemental conversations, practise active listening and empathy, maintain appropriate boundaries, and encourage people to access professional support when needed.
This training does not create mental health professionals, rather it empowers ordinary people to safely support others while understanding the importance of connecting them with the right services.
By completing the programme, participants gain valuable lifelong skills in communication, empathy and mental health awareness, while helping to reduce stigma and build stronger, more supportive communities. Every person trained strengthens the network of support within their family, workplace, sports club, college or community. When more people know how to recognise the signs, start the conversation, and guide someone towards help, we create more opportunities to save lives.
