Student Congress 2023: Mental Health: the hidden edge

9th February 2023

Research shows that when young people have the knowledge, attitudes, and competencies to understand mental health and wellbeing and how it impacts their lives, they are better able to help themselves and others.

Cycle Against Suicide’s Student Congress is a contact-based education day that will encourage students to, practice self-care, develop self-efficacy and adopt positive coping. This event underpins the premise of our HEADSTRONG Programme – ‘Be Brave, Reach Out and Speak Up’

Talks will examine the factors which impact on mental health and wellbeing.

    • It will develop young people’s ability to act on behalf of personal wellbeing and that of others.
    • It will develop students’ confidence and competence to act in support of wellbeing and mental health.
    • It will increase students’ self-awareness about the attitudes, values and beliefs that underpin health, personal lifestyle behaviours and choices
    • Foster students’ capacity to empathise with others through a greater understanding of different life experiences, motives and feelings of other individuals.
Supported by music acts this fun-fill event is suitable for all post-primary students.
