Bike4Life Cyclothon – World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10

10th September 2019

Free

Across the world, somebody dies every 40 seconds by taking their own life. In Ireland, at least one person dies by suicide every single day. For tens of thousands in Ireland, any day could be the dark day they lose their lives or the life of a loved one to suicide.

This upcoming World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10th 2019, Cycle Against Suicide is joining with the global community to raise awareness of the risks of suicide and to fund suicide prevention activities. In support of the worldwide goal to cycle “Around the Globe”, Cycle Against Suicide will undertake the ‘Bike4Life Cyclothon in memory of all who have lost their life through suicide.

We invite you to cycle in solidarity with us on September 10th, so that together, we can create a world where suicide and mental health stigma are replaced by hope, understanding and accessible help.

You can participate from any location and by any means – cycle to/from work, cycle in work, cycle at the gym, cycle in school, club cycle, family cycle, cycle at home or on holidays. Alone or with friends. As a pro or a novice. As a race or a leisurely ride to your local shop. 500 metres or 1000km. It doesn’t matter. What matters is your support and your participation.

                                                                  All we need is you!

Your support will help foster a sense of inclusion and hope for those struggling, and help build community around a common cause. It’s also an opportunity to connect with your local community and to show your support for those who have been bereaved by suicide or who struggle with mental health issues.

Cycle Against Suicide exists to break down barriers around mental health and change the narrative around suicide. Our community activities contribute to positive mental health as they bring people together and kick-start conversations about mental health. Our mantra: ‘It’s OK not to feel OK; and it is absolutely OK to ask for help’ helps build personal resilience and breaks the stigma associated with mental ill health. These are important for suicide prevention and helping people seek the support they need.

YOU can be a part of this by joining our ‘Bike4Life Cyclothon’ on September 10th – World Suicide Prevention Day. Join with us to raise awareness in the fight against suicide and mental health issues in Ireland;
