Cllr Gobnait Moynihan

Day 6 of Cycle Against Suicide and we are heading for Ballyshannon in County Donegal.
Have to tell ye about the most amazing thing to happen so far on the cycle. This is even more amazing now than the padded saddle cover, my friend Noreen gave me!!!!A young fella named David. David is a teenager attending Greenwood College in Belfast. He stood up in a hall packet with 100s of people made up of cyclists, local community as well as his fellow students and told his story. David spoke eloquently of his own struggles with mental health and how it had affected his life. He spoke in front of us all about how he was full of anger, how he lashed out regularly on his family, how this anger had him in trouble with the police and how he did not know where all the anger came from. How spoke about how he eventually turned for help, and how graceful he was of the help and support he received. David stood before us all and spoke about his story, as his triplet brother stood silently on stage beside him. A silent support for his incredibly brave and inspirational brother.David blew us all away, there wasn’t a dry eye in the hall!
“It’s ok not the feel ok, and it’s absolutely ok to ask for help”.
