Cork Spinoff – Saturday 3rd September (Part of world suicide prevention day – Bike 4 Life campaign)

September 3

With 3 out of 4 suicides each year being male, there is a particularly pressing need now for a targeted approach to mental health awareness, education and suicide prevention among young and middle-aged men in Ireland – (Read Report here)

Cycle Against Suicide is utilising our Cork Spinoff, on Saturday September, 3rd September, as part of our campaign for World Suicide Prevention Day, 2022, to call for:

  • mental health awareness campaigns to increase men’s mental health literacy.
  • Awareness campaigns reframing masculinity.
  • Mental health support services and suicide intervention campaign.

The common goal is to promote positive mental health, stamp out the stigma surrounding it and to give hope to those struggling with mental health issues. We are asking mothers, wives, fathers, husbands, sons, daughters, friends communities, workplace to support our campaign and to join our event.

Our Cork Spinoff is a fun, family-friendly event which starts and finishes at Marina Market, Cork on 3rd September. Following a 42km cycle,  Cycle Against Suicide are hosting a mental health awareness event at the Market, with talks and music, highlighting local support available, while free on-site counselling is offered.
